Cleveland, OH – A scorching Wednesday is in store for Ohio as heat indices are expected to approach the upper 90s, potentially reaching 100 degrees in some areas. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a heat advisory, urging residents to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activities during peak heat hours.
According to the NWS Cleveland office, the high temperatures will impact cities across northern Ohio, including Toledo, Cleveland, Akron, and Youngstown. Heat indices will be particularly intense in Findlay, where temperatures could feel as high as 100 degrees. The advisory warns of the potential for heat-related illnesses and stresses the importance of seeking air-conditioned environments.
Isolated thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening, though confidence in their development is low. However, there is higher confidence in storm activity toward the southern and southwestern parts of the state, which could bring temporary relief from the heat.
Wednesday’s temperatures will peak around 86 degrees in Cleveland, with clear conditions expected throughout the day. Wind gusts up to 13 mph may offer some relief from the oppressive heat. The forecast predicts temperatures to remain high through the week, with Thursday seeing a high of 86 degrees under partly cloudy skies.
Friday brings a 60% chance of rain, potentially cooling things down with a high of 73 degrees. Showers may continue into Saturday with a 50% chance of precipitation and a high of 72 degrees. The heat will taper off slightly by Sunday, with sunny skies and a high of 72 degrees.
