Cincinnati, Ohio – Dangerous heat is blanketing Cincinnati, Dayton, and much of the Ohio River Valley, sending the heat index soaring as high as 103°F Wednesday. Schools, commuters, and outdoor workers face a day of elevated health risk, with the region’s Heat Advisory in effect until 8 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, the advisory covers portions of southeast Indiana, northeast and northern Kentucky, and southwest Ohio—including Butler, Hamilton, Warren, Clermont, Franklin, Ripley, and adjacent counties. Residents across cities like Middletown, Oxford, Florence, and Newport are urged to take immediate precautions.

High humidity and temperatures combine for extreme “feels-like” conditions. Outdoor activity should be limited, especially during peak afternoon hours. Officials recommend drinking plenty of fluids, staying in air-conditioned spaces, and checking on vulnerable relatives or neighbors. Loose, light clothing and frequent breaks are essential for anyone who must be outside.

Schools and community centers may open cooling shelters as the heat lingers through the evening. This is one of the hottest stretches so far this summer, reminiscent of the 2021 July heat wave.

Warnings remain in effect through tonight, with additional alerts possible if heat persists. Stay tuned for the latest updates.
