COLUMBUS, OH — Heavy rain continues to pose a significant flood risk across Ohio, with areas near and south of I-71 facing the heaviest rainfall. From April 5 to 7, Ohio could see an additional 1 to 3 inches of rain, exacerbating current flooding in low-lying areas, creeks, and rivers.

According to the National Weather Service, widespread flooding is expected, particularly in flood-prone areas. River flooding remains a concern, with several rivers already reaching flood stage and more expected to reach this level throughout the weekend. The highest rainfall totals are expected in northern and southern Ohio, including northeast Kentucky.

This situation could persist even after the rain ends, with high water levels lingering into next week. Residents are urged to avoid flooded roads and to follow the “Turn Around, Don’t Drown” slogan as conditions worsen.

Flooding may affect travel, with multiple roadways at risk of closure. Stay tuned to local authorities for ongoing updates as the storm progresses.
