Cleveland, OH – A Flood Watch remains in effect for much of northern, central, and northeastern Ohio, with the potential for significant flooding through Sunday morning due to heavy rainfall.
According to the National Weather Service, moderate to heavy rainfall expected Friday and Saturday nights could bring an additional 2 to 4 inches of rain to the region, pushing the total rainfall from this weather event to between 4 and 6 inches by Sunday. This will likely cause rivers, creeks, and streams to flood, especially in low-lying areas and poor drainage spots. Urban and street flooding is also a concern.
The flood risk includes counties in north central, northeast, and northwest Ohio, including Cleveland, Toledo, Akron, Canton, Elyria, and surrounding areas. Residents are urged to monitor forecasts closely, particularly from Friday night into Sunday morning, as flash flooding could occur quickly.
The weather system follows 1 to 3 inches of rainfall from Wednesday night, which has already caused some rivers to rise. Authorities advise caution and encourage residents to be prepared to take action if Flash Flood Warnings are issued.
