Circleville, OH – Minor flooding is ongoing along the Scioto River in Circleville and Piketon, with moderate flooding expected to worsen through the weekend. The National Weather Service issued a flood warning for these areas, advising residents to take precautions.
In Circleville, the Scioto River’s level was reported at 15.3 feet as of Friday afternoon. The river is forecast to crest at 20.2 feet by Monday morning, well above the flood stage of 15.0 feet. At this level, flooding is expected to affect roads including Mill and Canal Roads, Island Road, and State Route 762. Some residents may become isolated due to backwater flooding along Big Darby Creek and Hargus Creek.
Piketon is also under a flood warning, with the Scioto River expected to reach 26.8 feet by Monday, rising from 21.5 feet on Friday. Flooding is forecast to affect both Piketon and nearby towns along the river.
The National Weather Service recommends that people avoid driving through flooded roads and seek higher ground when necessary.
