FAIRFIELD COUNTY, OH – Residents across Fairfield County can safely dispose of unwanted prescription medications this Saturday, October 25, during the DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
According to the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office, two collection sites will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. — one at Violet Township, 490 North Center Street, Pickerington, and another at Diley Ridge Medical Center, 7911 Diley Road, Canal Winchester.
The event, held in partnership with Fairfield County Soil and Water Conservation, the City of Canal Winchester, Diley Ridge Medical Center, and Violet Township, aims to reduce the risk of medication misuse by offering a safe, anonymous way to dispose of tablets, capsules, patches, and other prescription drugs. Syringes, sharps, and illicit drugs will not be accepted.
Electronics recycling will also be available at the Violet Township site during the event. Residents can bring in televisions ($1 per diagonal inch) and computer monitors ($5 each) for proper disposal. Only cash or checks will be accepted, and lithium batteries must be removed from vaping devices.
The Sheriff’s Office encourages residents to take advantage of this opportunity to clean out medicine cabinets and safely dispose of unneeded or expired medications while protecting the community and environment.
