Dayton, OH – Residents in Montgomery County will have a safe and convenient way to dispose of unwanted medications this weekend during National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, held Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the collection event will take place at the Harrison Township Substation, located at 5945 North Dixie Drive in Dayton. The initiative, organized in partnership with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), aims to prevent prescription drug misuse and ensure proper disposal of expired or unused medications.
Officials say the event will accept most prescription and over-the-counter medications, including narcotics, non-narcotics, herbal supplements, and veterinary medicines. However, biohazard materials, illegal drugs, liquids, and needles will not be accepted.
The DEA’s National Take Back Day is part of a nationwide effort to reduce accidental poisonings and overdoses by keeping unneeded drugs out of homes and the environment. Previous events have collected millions of pounds of unused medications across the country.
Residents are encouraged to bring their medications in original containers, with personal information removed, for safe disposal.
