Columbus, OH – Authorities are investigating a high-value equipment theft after a 60-ton crane was reported stolen from a construction site in far south Columbus early Monday.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, the Kent Power Company contacted law enforcement around 8 a.m. on March 31 after discovering the 2019 Kenworth Long Boom National Crane missing from a job site on Parsons Avenue, near the Eldorado Casinos at Scioto Downs. Detectives believe the theft occurred sometime overnight or during the preceding weekend.

The stolen crane, valued at over $500,000, is a massive piece of industrial equipment that would require advanced knowledge and experience to operate and transport. Investigators believe those allegedly responsible may have had access to heavy equipment handling expertise. The crane’s size and distinctive appearance make it difficult to hide and potentially easier to identify if spotted.

The case remains under investigation. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information to contact its Detective Bureau at (614) 525-3351. Tipsters may remain anonymous.

Authorities are encouraging the public, especially those in nearby industrial or transport sectors, to remain alert for sightings of similar heavy equipment in unusual locations.
