Wilmington, Ohio –

Much of Ohio will wake up to unseasonably cold temperatures Sunday morning, with lows dipping into the low-to-mid 40s across central and eastern parts of the state. Logan is expected to reach just 42°F overnight, while Cincinnati and Carrollton may hover around 51°F.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, Saturday night’s temperatures will run 5 to 10 degrees below late May norms. A wide swath of the state—from Dayton and Columbus to Newark and Chillicothe—will see lows between 43°F and 48°F between 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday.

In northern cities like Kenton and Marysville, readings will struggle to reach the mid-40s, while the Ohio River Valley near Carrollton and Falmouth holds closer to 50°F. Drivers and early risers should dress in layers and consider protecting sensitive plants from the chill.

Though no freeze is expected, this marks one of the coldest late-May nights since 2021 in parts of the region. Outdoor plans and overnight camping may require extra insulation.

Cooler-than-normal temperatures are expected to linger into Sunday, with normal warmth returning by midweek. Another update will be issued by the NWS Sunday morning.
