Columbus, OH – Authorities have increased the reward to $40,000 for information leading to the arrest of Daveonte Dixon, the suspect allegedly involved in the shooting of two Mifflin Township Police Officers earlier this week.
According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting occurred Wednesday around 6:45 p.m. during a traffic stop near Mecca Drive and Perdue Avenue. Officers attempted to stop a vehicle when the passenger, identified as Dixon, reportedly fled and fired multiple rounds at pursuing officers. Both officers were struck during the incident.
One officer has since been released from the hospital, while the second remains hospitalized, officials said.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is contributing $25,000 to the reward, supplemented by $5,000 donations each from Central Ohio Crime Stoppers, FOP Capital City Lodge #9, and the U.S. Marshals Service.
Dixon is currently wanted on one count of attempted murder and two counts of felonious assault. Authorities describe him as armed and dangerous and caution the public not to engage with him under any circumstances.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is coordinating the investigation with assistance from multiple agencies at the local, state and federal levels.
