Ogle County, IL – Students and staff at Stillman Valley High School were placed on a soft lockdown Thursday morning after an uncooperative student was reported in the office, according to the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident began around 9:15 a.m. when the school resource officer requested assistance. As a precaution, the school was immediately placed on lockdown while deputies responded. Officials confirmed the student was safely detained without incident.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the Byron Police Department and the Stillman Fire Protection District also responded to assist. Sheriff Brian VanVickle emphasized that the situation was not violent but highlighted how preparedness and teamwork among agencies ensured a safe and timely outcome.
“While this was not a violent encounter, it serves as a perfect example of how cooperation and planning between agencies help ensure a safe and timely resolution to potential school safety concerns,” VanVickle stated.
The lockdown has since been lifted, and no injuries were reported.
