According to the Delaware State Police, troopers responded at approximately 12:30 a.m. Saturday to a residence on the 37000 block of Mahogany Street for a reported assault. When officers arrived, they located a 64-year-old male who had allegedly been struck with a crowbar. He was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the preliminary investigation determined two white male suspects were yelling and knocking on the victim’s door before the assault occurred. When the victim opened the door, he reportedly did not recognize the men and attempted to close it. Investigators allege one of the suspects grabbed the door, forced entry and struck the victim with a crowbar.
According to state police, the suspects fled the scene in an unknown red vehicle. No arrests had been announced as of Monday.
