Oakland, ME – A 45-year-old Oakland man was arrested Tuesday morning after an hours-long standoff involving state and local police.
Authorities responded to Ayer Street in Oakland around 6 a.m. after receiving a report from a Palermo woman. The woman alleged her ex-partner, Jason Grant, allegedly made threats to harm her and others at her home.
According to Maine State Police, negotiators and a tactical team worked for several hours to de-escalate the situation. After persistent communication, Grant exited the home peacefully and was taken into custody without incident.
Grant faces multiple charges, including domestic violence criminal threatening, domestic violence terrorizing, violating release conditions, and creating a police standoff. He is being held without bail at the Waldo County Jail.
The Maine State Police were assisted by the Oakland Police Department, Oakland Fire and Rescue, and the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Department.
No injuries were reported during the incident. Law enforcement commended the collaboration between agencies for resolving the situation safely.
