Oak Park, IL – A man is dead following a shooting in Oak Park early Friday morning. Officers responded to reports of gunfire around 1:23 a.m. in the 600 block of South Boulevard. Upon arrival, they discovered a man lying in the street with an apparent gunshot wound.
According to the Oak Park Police Department, the unidentified man was transported to Loyola University Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries. A witness reported seeing five male suspects, dressed in black clothing, flee the scene on foot. Officers later observed individuals matching those descriptions running east on Pleasant Street, where they were detained and taken to the Oak Park police station.
The investigation is ongoing, with assistance from the West Suburban Major Crimes Task Force. Police have not released further details about the suspects involved.
