Oak Brook, IL – An early morning fire heavily damaged a single-story home in Oak Brook on Tuesday, but all residents escaped safely, according to the Oak Brook Fire Department.

Fire crews were called around 2:20 a.m. to the 500 block of Abbeywood Court, where they found heavy flames coming from an attached three-car garage with a partial roof collapse. The blaze had spread into the attic space of the home by the time firefighters arrived.

Officials said three occupants were alerted by a working alarm system and were able to evacuate without injury before crews arrived. Firefighters began interior operations but encountered heavy smoke and fire throughout the attic.

Due to the intensity of the fire, the response was upgraded to a MABAS Division 12 Box Alarm, bringing assistance from multiple neighboring departments, including Downers Grove, Elmhurst, Hinsdale, and Lombard. The fire was brought under control roughly two hours and twenty minutes after the first units arrived.

No injuries were reported among residents or firefighters. The home sustained significant fire, smoke, and structural damage, rendering it uninhabitable. The DuPage County Fire Investigation Task Force is investigating the cause.
