Oak Brook, Ill. — Three Chicago juveniles face felony charges after allegedly stealing thousands of dollars in merchandise from multiple Oak Brook stores Saturday afternoon.
According to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office, the suspects — two 16-year-old males and one 17-year-old female — appeared at a detention hearing Sunday morning before Judge Kishori Tank. The court ordered all three held in custody until their next scheduled appearance.
Prosecutors allege the juveniles targeted three businesses at Oakbrook Center on Saturday, March 8. The Oak Brook Police Department said officers were first alerted around 4:34 p.m. when the manager of an Alo store at 68 Oakbrook Center reported suspicious activity.
Investigators allege the teens entered the store and selected 16 clothing items valued at about $1,906 before leaving without paying. Authorities say the group then went to Victoria’s Secret at 52 Oakbrook Center, allegedly taking 24 items valued at approximately $541.45.
Prosecutors further allege the suspects entered Macy’s at 1 Oakbrook Center, selecting six clothing items worth about $1,965 before leaving the store without payment.
Oak Brook police officers apprehended all three juveniles after they exited Macy’s, authorities said. Investigators also allege the defendants were in possession of bear spray during the incidents.
The juveniles each face three counts of burglary (Class 2 felony), three counts of retail theft (Class 3 felony), and one count of armed violence (Class 2 felony), according to prosecutors.
DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said the alleged thefts occurred across multiple stores in quick succession, raising concerns for shoppers and businesses at the busy suburban shopping center.
The case may also draw attention from students and young retail workers who frequently visit or work at the mall.
The juveniles’ next court appearance is scheduled for Thursday, March 12, 2026, before Judge Tank.
