Joliet, IL – An EF-1 tornado, with peak winds estimated at 110 mph, has been confirmed by the National Weather Service (NWS) after it struck parts of Joliet on Monday evening. The tornado was first detected west of Minooka at approximately 9:07 PM CDT and continued its path across Shorewood and Joliet, ultimately dissipating near the Des Plaines River at 9:23 PM CDT.

According to the NWS Chicago, the tornado spanned a length of 16.3 miles and had a maximum width of 250 yards. Despite the significant wind speeds, no injuries or fatalities were reported. The NWS confirmed these findings on Wednesday afternoon.

The tornado’s path caused notable damage to structures and trees, leaving many residents to deal with power outages and property damage. Cleanup efforts are currently underway, with local authorities and emergency services working to restore normalcy to the affected areas.
