Pittsburgh, PA – Scattered snow showers will continue across western Pennsylvania today, with heavier snow bands expected to develop this afternoon and evening. According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Pittsburgh, the most impactful accumulation is forecast for areas north of I-80 and in higher terrain, where 3 to 6 inches of snow could fall by Tuesday.
The NWS reports that initial snowfall through early afternoon will remain light—generally 1 to 2 inches—before intensifying later in the day as colder air deepens over the region. Snow showers are expected to continue into Tuesday, with the highest totals in the ridges of Clarion, Forest, and Elk Counties.
Forecasters caution that snowfall rates and totals may vary significantly over short distances due to the narrow and shifting nature of the lake-enhanced snow bands. Drivers should prepare for slick roads, reduced visibility, and rapidly changing conditions during the evening commute.
A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect through 1 p.m. Tuesday for portions of northwest and western Pennsylvania.
