WARREN, PA – The National Weather Service in State College has extended a Lake Effect Snow Warning for Warren County, in effect until 1 p.m. Tuesday as bands of heavy snow continue to impact the region.
According to forecasters, an additional 4 to 7 inches of snow is expected, with the heaviest snowfall occurring between midnight and 11 a.m. Tuesday. Winds gusting into the 20s and low 30s mph could make it difficult to keep roads clear.
The NWS warns that travel may be very difficult, particularly on bridges and overpasses, which could become slick and icy overnight. Motorists are urged to delay travel if possible and keep winter emergency kits in vehicles, including blankets, flashlights, and water.
Forecasters noted that conditions can change rapidly under lake effect snow bands, with visibility dropping from clear to near whiteout within minutes. The snow is expected to taper off by early Tuesday afternoon, but slippery road conditions may persist through the day.
