Bradford, Pa. – Residents in northwestern Pennsylvania could wake up to frost on lawns and gardens Sunday morning as a sharp drop in temperature grips McKean County. Lows near 34 degrees are expected in valley and sheltered locations between 4 a.m. and 9 a.m., creating the potential for widespread frost.

According to the National Weather Service in State College, a Frost Advisory remains in effect during the early morning hours Sunday, with the coldest air settling into Bradford and other low-lying areas of McKean County. Officials warn that tender outdoor vegetation could be damaged or killed if left uncovered overnight.

Gardeners and homeowners are urged to cover plants, bring potted flowers inside, or use light sheets to shield crops from the chill. Drivers may also notice reduced visibility from patchy fog forming with the colder air near sunrise.

The cold snap is expected to be brief, with temperatures rebounding into the 70s by Sunday afternoon. Still, this early taste of fall could signal more chilly nights ahead for northern Pennsylvania as the new week begins. Additional advisories may be issued if frost conditions return.
