Pittsburgh, PA – A Lake Effect Snow Warning remains in place for parts of Northwestern Pennsylvania, with heavy snowfall expected to accumulate up to 12 inches by early Friday.
According to the National Weather Service, the warning covers Mercer, Venango, Forest, Clarion, and Jefferson counties. Forecasters predict additional snow accumulations between 6 and 12 inches, with wind gusts reaching as high as 40 mph. Hazardous conditions are expected to impact commutes through Thursday morning, with challenges likely persisting until snow diminishes Friday afternoon.
Drivers are urged to exercise caution and carry emergency supplies, including a flashlight, food, and water, in their vehicles. Real-time road conditions can be accessed by calling 511.
The warning is set to expire at 1 p.m. Friday, but continued vigilance is advised as road conditions may remain difficult.
