Northwest Wisconsin – Roads are completely snow covered across much of northwest Wisconsin as heavy snow continues to impact the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, a 7 p.m. update reported that most roadways in northwest Wisconsin remain fully snow covered, with similar conditions extending into parts of Minnesota. Snowfall was ongoing at the time of the update, contributing to deteriorating travel conditions.
Forecasters said visibility has dropped to around one mile or less in many areas due to falling snow and blustery winds. The reduced visibility is making travel especially hazardous, particularly on open highways and rural roads where drifting snow is possible.
NWS officials noted that heavy snow continues over northwest Wisconsin, with impacts spreading into east-central Minnesota and up the North Shore. Radar and road condition data show widespread winter travel disruptions, including limited visibility and snow-packed surfaces.
Drivers are urged to avoid travel if possible and to use extreme caution if travel is unavoidable. Slick roads and reduced visibility increase the risk of crashes, especially during evening and overnight hours.
The update is particularly relevant for commuters and overnight travelers, as conditions may remain dangerous until snowfall eases and road crews are able to improve conditions.
Motorists are encouraged to monitor local road reports and follow guidance from weather and public safety officials.
