Amarillo, Texas – Powerful thunderstorms swept across the Texas Panhandle overnight, leaving behind hail, wind damage, and localized flooding. Residents are now being asked to help document the storm’s impact, especially in and around Stratford, Dumas, and the region north of Amarillo.

According to the National Weather Service in Amarillo, several pockets of severe weather struck late Sunday into early Monday. Officials are specifically seeking damage reports related to hail of any size, tree or power line damage, and flooding where roads may have been washed out or ponded. Those who witnessed impacts are encouraged to measure hailstones with common objects, note down wind damage to trees or buildings, and share photos if possible.

Communities such as Guymon, Dalhart, and Perryton also saw strong storms, with brief road closures and power flickers in some areas. Emergency crews urge residents to avoid flooded roadways and steer clear of downed lines while cleanup continues. If you experienced damage, include your exact location, time, and, if safe, take pictures before any cleanup begins.

NWS Amarillo will be monitoring for additional thunderstorms through Tuesday morning and more advisories may follow. Stay weather aware, charge devices, and monitor updates if more severe weather is expected.
