Cleveland, Ohio – Temperatures across northern Ohio are soaring into the upper 90s this week, with heat index values expected to exceed 105°F in many cities through Tuesday evening, prompting a widespread Heat Advisory.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, the advisory remains in effect from noon Sunday through at least 8 p.m. Tuesday. Cities including Cleveland, Akron, Toledo, and Youngstown are bracing for dangerously high heat index levels — with Toledo and Fremont expected to reach up to 108°F. Monday and Tuesday afternoons will bring the most intense heat, with actual highs in the mid to upper 90s.

Residents in counties such as Cuyahoga, Lucas, and Summit are urged to limit outdoor activities, stay hydrated, and seek air-conditioned spaces. School programs and outdoor work may be impacted. Elderly residents and those without cooling access face the highest risk.

Travelers should avoid leaving pets or children in vehicles. Road crews and construction workers should use caution during peak afternoon hours when heat index values peak between 1–6 p.m. each day.

This heat event marks one of the season’s most intense so far. Additional advisories or Excessive Heat Warnings are possible if conditions worsen.
