Cleveland, Ohio – Scattered thunderstorms could bring downpours and lightning to parts of Northwest Ohio this afternoon, with the greatest threat centered around Toledo and Sandusky, where rain chances climb to over 50% by 4 p.m. Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, thunderstorm activity will ramp up between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., with precipitation probabilities peaking at 56% in Toledo and 53% in Sandusky. Rain coverage will be less widespread east of I-71, where Cleveland and Akron are seeing lower rain chances between 22% and 34%. Highs are expected to stay near normal, ranging from the low to mid-80s across the region.

Drivers in Findlay (54%), Mansfield (43%), and Marion (37%) should prepare for wet roads and possible lightning by late afternoon. While no severe storm warnings are currently posted, isolated downpours and brief gusts could impact travel. Residents are urged to monitor conditions and delay outdoor activities if thunder is heard nearby.

Rain chances taper off in the evening but may return Wednesday as moisture lingers. No widespread flooding is expected, but localized ponding is possible in low-lying areas.
