Cleveland, Ohio – Ohio residents from Toledo to Akron should prepare for oppressive heat through Tuesday, with peak heat index values soaring into triple digits in some areas. Parts of Northwest Ohio could see “feels like” temperatures climb to 98°F Sunday afternoon, and up to 102°F by Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, the highest risk stretches across north-central, northeast, and northwest Ohio, including Lucas, Erie, and Cuyahoga counties. Monday will bring heat index values between 94°F and 100°F, rising again Tuesday afternoon. In Northeast Ohio, cities like Youngstown and Warren could feel up to 100°F as well.

The heat poses a risk to those without air conditioning, outdoor workers, and individuals with health sensitivities. Emergency officials recommend limiting outdoor activity during peak heat hours, staying hydrated, and checking on elderly neighbors. Public cooling centers may open in larger cities if the heat persists.

This marks one of the hottest stretches so far this summer in the region. While no formal Heat Advisory has been issued as of Sunday morning, additional alerts may be posted if temperatures climb further.
