Shreveport, LA – The morning air is calm and mild across northern Louisiana this Friday, but a major shift is on the horizon. Sunshine and highs in the low 80s today mark the calm before widespread rain and thunderstorms move in Saturday, part of a sprawling system pushing through the southern Plains.
According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, the first bands of rain are expected late Friday night, with coverage expanding rapidly through Saturday morning. Showers and occasional thunderstorms will continue throughout the day, producing moderate to heavy rainfall at times. Gusty winds near 20 mph and wet roads could slow travel along I-20, I-49, and surrounding routes.
Saturday’s highs will cool into the mid-70s as clouds dominate. By Saturday night, the heaviest rain shifts eastward, but scattered storms linger through early Sunday. Sunday’s pattern stays unsettled — showers are likely, though some breaks of sun may peek through in the afternoon. Temperatures will reach the mid to upper 70s, keeping things warm and humid.
The early part of next week offers a return to sunshine. Monday and Tuesday will be drier with highs near 77°F, while another weak system could bring spotty showers Tuesday night.
After a stretch of warm, dry days, this wet weekend is a reminder that fall’s storm season still has life left. As Halloween approaches, cooler air is poised to follow — bringing the first true taste of November to Louisiana by midweek.
