Shreveport, LA – The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has issued Tornado Watch #624 for northwest Louisiana, effective until 9 p.m. CDT Saturday, as severe storms capable of producing tornadoes and damaging winds move through the region.
According to the NWS, the watch covers Bienville, Bossier, Caddo, Claiborne, De Soto, Natchitoches, Red River, Sabine, and Webster Parishes. The alert includes major population centers such as Shreveport, Bossier City, Minden, Natchitoches, and Mansfield.
Forecasters warn that thunderstorms developing ahead of a strong cold front could produce tornadoes, large hail, and wind gusts up to 70 mph. The greatest risk period runs from late afternoon through early evening, as warm, unstable air interacts with increasing wind shear.
Residents are urged to remain alert for Tornado Warnings, have multiple ways to receive emergency alerts, and seek shelter immediately if a warning is issued.
This Tornado Watch remains in effect until 9 p.m. CDT for northwest Louisiana, including the Shreveport–Bossier metro area.
