Goodland, KS – A Freeze Warning remains in effect for northwest and west-central Kansas as well as southwest Nebraska, according to the National Weather Service in Goodland. The alert is active from 10 p.m. CDT (9 p.m. MDT) Tuesday through 11 a.m. CDT (10 a.m. MDT) Wednesday.

Forecasters warn that temperatures could drop to around 23 degrees, marking one of the coldest nights of the season so far for cities including Goodland, Colby, Norton, Hill City, McCook, and Benkelman.

According to the Weather Service, frost and freeze conditions may kill crops, harm sensitive vegetation, and damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. Residents are advised to drain sprinkler systems, cover outdoor faucets, and protect plants ahead of the sharp temperature drop.

This freeze event is part of a broader cold air mass pushing across the Central Plains, with temperatures expected to stay below freezing well into Wednesday morning before gradual warming later in the day.
