Denison, IA – A Wind Advisory is in effect from 7 p.m. Tuesday to 4 a.m. Wednesday for parts of western Iowa, as strong north winds sweep across the region overnight.

According to the National Weather Service in Des Moines, sustained winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph are expected across Sac and Crawford Counties, including Denison, Sac City, and Schaller.

Forecasters warn that the gusty winds may knock down small tree limbs and cause isolated power outages, particularly in open and rural areas. High-profile vehicles could face difficult driving conditions, especially along Highway 30 and nearby elevated routes.

The strongest winds are expected between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m., before gradually easing toward sunrise Wednesday. Residents are urged to secure outdoor items such as Halloween decorations, trash cans, and patio furniture before the winds intensify.

The NWS advises extra caution for drivers and those traveling during the overnight hours as the cold front moves through western Iowa.
