Northwest Indiana: Homicide Investigation Launched After Man Found Shot in Head at BP Gas Station

East Chicago, IN – A late-night shooting at a BP gas station in East Chicago has led to a homicide investigation by local authorities. 

According to the East Chicago Police Department, the incident occurred shortly after 8:20 p.m. on Saturday, when officers were dispatched to the gas station located at the intersection of 145th and Indianapolis Blvd. Upon their arrival, they discovered a man inside the facility, unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. His condition remains unknown at this time.

A second victim was found near the scene, having sustained a gunshot wound that was determined to be non-life-threatening. This individual was promptly transported to St. Catherine Hospital for treatment.

The gravity of the situation prompted the involvement of the Lake County Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force and the Lake County Sheriff Crime Scene Unit, indicating the serious nature of the crime under investigation. Details surrounding the shooting are still emerging, and authorities have not yet released additional information as the investigation continues.
