Little Rock, AR – A Wind Advisory is in effect through 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon for parts of northwest Arkansas as an area of low pressure strengthens over the central Plains, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) Little Rock.

Sustained winds of 15–25 mph are expected, with peak gusts reaching 35–40 mph at times. The strongest winds will occur across northwest Arkansas, including areas near Fayetteville, Bentonville, Harrison, and Jasper, though breezy conditions will extend into portions of central Arkansas as well.

NWS warns that today’s winds could cause difficulty for high-profile vehicles, especially on north–south roadways and elevated stretches of highway. Drivers of SUVs, vans, RVs, and semi-trucks should exercise caution. Loose outdoor objects—such as lawn decorations, trash bins, and holiday displays—may also be blown around if not secured.

Conditions on area lakes may become choppy or hazardous, and NWS advises boaters to use extra caution or postpone planned outings if possible.

Despite the gusty winds, no precipitation is expected today. Winds should gradually ease later this afternoon and into the evening as the low-pressure system moves east.

With the holiday weekend continuing, residents are encouraged to remain alert for any sudden wind gusts and keep outdoor items tied down or indoors.
