Fayetteville, Ark. – Roads, neighborhoods, and creeks across northwest Arkansas remained underwater Tuesday afternoon as multiple flash flood warnings were extended by the National Weather Service in Tulsa. Benton, Madison, Washington, and Carroll counties are all under advisories as storms continue to push isolated heavy rainfall into an already saturated region.

According to the National Weather Service, radar and public reports confirm widespread flooding after 2 to 5 inches of rain fell earlier today. Emergency crews are urging drivers to avoid Highway 71, stretches of Interstate 49, and low-lying rural routes near Springdale, Rogers, and Fayetteville where water has been reported over the pavement. In southeast Carroll County, isolated pockets received up to 5 inches of rainfall, worsening creek and stream overflow.

Springdale, Rogers, and Bentonville are among the hardest-hit cities, with reports of water covering underpasses and parking lots. Madison County, including Huntsville and Hindsville, remains at risk as storms track east. Rural communities near Eureka Springs, Berryville, and Green Forest are also dealing with significant flooding that has made some back roads impassable.

Officials stress the importance of avoiding travel until the storms fully clear. “Turn around, don’t drown,” the Weather Service warned, noting that most flood-related deaths occur in vehicles. Residents are advised to charge phones, monitor local alerts, and prepare for possible rescues in flood-prone areas.

Flood warnings are expected to remain in effect into the evening, with an additional 1 to 2 inches of rainfall possible before conditions ease. More advisories could follow if training storms linger over the Ozarks.
