Little Rock, Ark. – Torrential rain and dangerous storms are expected to sweep across Arkansas this weekend, with northwest counties bracing for flash flooding and severe weather threats extending into Sunday night. Cities like Fayetteville and Fort Smith could see 3 to 4 inches of rainfall, while strong winds and large hail are likely across much of central and northern Arkansas.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, a Flood Watch remains in effect through Sunday evening for west central, northwest, and north central Arkansas. Rainfall totals could reach 4 inches in parts of the Ozarks, with 0.5 to 1 inch expected elsewhere, including Little Rock, Pine Bluff, and Jonesboro.

Storms may bring quarter-size hail and wind gusts up to 80 mph on both Saturday and Sunday, with the greatest risk for tornadoes on Sunday afternoon and evening from Conway to Mountain Home. Flash flooding is possible, particularly in low-lying areas or near saturated ground from earlier rain.

Residents are urged to stay weather-aware, avoid driving through flooded roads, and secure outdoor items ahead of the storms. Charge devices and have multiple ways to receive warnings, especially overnight.

Warnings remain in effect through late Sunday, and additional watches may be issued as the system evolves.
