Northwest Arkansas & Eastern Oklahoma: Storm Chances Tonight, Triple-Digit Heat by Weekend

Tulsa, OK – A round of late-day thunderstorms could linger into Monday morning across parts of eastern Oklahoma, bringing heavy rainfall and a risk of localized flooding before intense summer heat builds midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, isolated thunderstorms are expected west of Highway 75 through tonight, with additional cells developing to the north and drifting southeast. Spotter activation may be needed for areas facing gusty winds or minor flash flooding through early Monday.

By Tuesday, skies clear across eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas, kicking off a dangerous heat trend. Temperatures will rise each day, peaking between 96°F and 100°F Thursday through Saturday, with triple-digit heat index values possible. No rainfall is expected after Monday morning.

Monday: Lingering storms early, then mostly sunny. High near 90°F.
Tuesday: Sunny and hot, high near 94°F.
Wednesday: Mostly sunny, high of 96°F.
Thursday: Peak heat, sunny with highs near 98°F, heat index near 105°F.
Friday: Continued heat, highs around 97°F.

Residents should prepare now for extreme heat by checking cooling centers, staying hydrated, and limiting outdoor work by late week. Further heat advisories may be issued as early as Wednesday.
