Northumberland County, PA – A man wanted in connection with a Carbon County shooting earlier this month has been captured, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Authorities said the PSP Fugitive Unit and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force took Edwin Vazquez into custody in Northumberland County on Saturday, December 21, 2025.
According to investigators, the arrest follows a December 13 incident in Banks Township, Carbon County, where a 29-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted and shot. The victim was treated and later released from a local hospital.
Vazquez, 32, had been the subject of an active arrest warrant for attempted homicide, criminal attempt–criminal homicide, robbery–take property by force, recklessly endangering another person, and discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure, according to PSP Troop N in Hazleton.
Police said Vazquez allegedly fled the scene before being located by law enforcement days later. Authorities thanked the public for sharing information during the search.
Vazquez will be turned over to Carbon County authorities to face pending charges related to the December 13 shooting.
This investigation remains active, and additional details may be released as the case progresses.
