DULUTH, MN – The National Weather Service in Duluth has issued a Dense Fog Advisory through 11 a.m. Thursday for much of northern Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin, where widespread fog is reducing visibility to under a quarter mile.

Meteorologists report that dense fog is already ongoing tonight across the Northland, affecting cities including Duluth, Hibbing, Grand Rapids, International Falls, and Ashland. The fog is expected to persist into mid-morning Thursday, creating hazardous travel conditions.

The NWS cautions that freezing fog is also possible in areas where temperatures fall to or below freezing, potentially leading to slick roadways, bridges, and sidewalks by early morning.

Drivers are urged to slow down, use low beam headlights, and allow extra travel time for the Thursday morning commute. Conditions should begin improving late in the morning as temperatures rise and visibility increases.
