Eagle River, WI – A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for Vilas County from late Tuesday night through late Wednesday night, with forecasters warning of heavy snow and blowing winds that could make travel very difficult to impossible, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Green Bay.

The system is expected to bring 6 to 10 inches of snow, with localized totals of 10 to 14 inches possible in the northwest part of the county. Winds could gust between 25 and 35 mph, creating considerable blowing and drifting snow and reduced visibility across the Northwoods.

The storm will likely impact both the Wednesday morning and evening commutes, just as holiday travelers and hunters head north for Thanksgiving week. “Holiday travelers and hunters should be prepared for hazardous travel conditions,” the NWS advised.

Officials urge residents to monitor forecast updates and prepare for potentially severe winter driving conditions. Motorists are advised to keep emergency kits in their vehicles and delay travel if possible during the height of the storm.
