Duluth, Minn. – Heavy rain is soaking northern Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin this morning, with totals reaching up to 4 inches in some areas, potentially leading to flash flooding through Friday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, a swath of 1–2+ inches of rain is expected between 7 a.m. Friday and 7 p.m. Saturday, with the heaviest rainfall focused near Siren, Phillips, and Hinckley. A flash flooding risk remains low but possible through Friday afternoon, particularly in low-lying or poorly drained areas.

Siren, Wisconsin, is already seeing some of the highest rainfall totals—approaching 1.8 inches—with Phillips and Hayward also nearing 1.5 inches. Cities including Duluth, Moose Lake, and Solon Springs are in the 0.5–1 inch range, which could still lead to water ponding on roads. Commuters should avoid flooded intersections and monitor local alerts.

While flash flooding is not widespread, a northward or southward shift in the rain axis could expand risk areas. Rain is expected to taper by Saturday evening, but residents are advised to charge devices, stay updated, and limit travel in flooded zones.

⚠️ Rain continues through Saturday – more alerts may follow if the rain band shifts.
