Wisconsin – Widespread winter storm conditions are expected across much of Wisconsin beginning Sunday afternoon and evening, with heavy snow, strong winds, and hazardous travel continuing through Monday.
According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for nearly all of northern and central Wisconsin, with start times ranging from Sunday afternoon through late evening and lasting into Monday afternoon or early evening.
Snowfall totals are forecast to range from 4 to 7 inches across east-central Wisconsin, including the Green Bay and Fox Valley areas, to 8 to 12 inches in Forest, Florence, and northern Marinette counties. Higher totals of 11 to 16 inches are expected in Vilas County, while 7 to 11 inches are possible in Oneida and Lincoln counties. Door County could see 6 to 8 inches, accompanied by stronger winds.
Across the region, winds gusting between 45 and 50 mph are expected to cause considerable blowing and drifting snow, with visibilities dropping below one-quarter mile at times. The National Weather Service warns that the weight of heavy snow and strong winds may down trees and power lines, potentially leading to sporadic or significant power outages.
Travel conditions are expected to deteriorate rapidly Sunday night, with dangerous road conditions impacting the Monday morning commute statewide. Additional impacts may continue into the Monday evening commute in eastern Wisconsin, including Door, Kewaunee, and Manitowoc counties.
Residents are urged to avoid unnecessary travel and prepare for possible power disruptions. Anyone who must travel should carry emergency supplies and monitor conditions closely. Wisconsin road conditions are available by calling 511.
