Jackson, WY – Residents across western Wyoming should prepare for freezing temperatures overnight, as the National Weather Service (NWS) in Riverton issued Freeze Warnings effective from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m. Tuesday.
According to the NWS, sub-freezing lows are expected across Jackson Hole, Star Valley, and the Upper Green River Basin, with widespread temperatures between 28 and 33 degrees. In colder spots such as Bondurant, overnight lows could fall as low as 23 degrees.
Communities including Jackson, Afton, Pinedale, Big Piney, La Barge, Alpine, Thayne, and Star Valley Ranch are under the advisory. The northern half of the Green River Basin is expected to see the coldest conditions, while areas near Farson may remain slightly warmer, in the upper 30s.
The NWS warned that frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, damage sensitive plants, and affect unprotected outdoor plumbing. Residents are urged to take precautions Monday evening to cover vegetation and insulate water systems.
Forecasters noted there is an 80 to 100 percent chance of widespread freezing temperatures, though some relief is possible if cloud cover persists overnight.
This marks one of the first widespread freeze events of the season for western Wyoming, signaling a quick transition toward fall weather conditions.
