Northern Minnesota and North Dakota – Snow and blowing snow will continue to affect travel across parts of northern Minnesota and North Dakota on Sunday, with Winter Weather Advisories remaining in effect through tonight and early Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 9 a.m. Sunday to 3 a.m. CST Monday for portions of north-central Minnesota, including Roseau, East Marshall, East Becker, and Wadena counties. A previously issued Blizzard Warning has been canceled for these areas. Snow is expected to develop by afternoon, with 1 to 4 inches of accumulation and wind gusts up to 35 mph, leading to areas of blowing snow and visibility occasionally dropping below one mile.

Additional Winter Weather Advisories remain in effect for Hubbard, Beltrami, and Clearwater counties, including Bemidji, Park Rapids, Bagley, and Lake Itasca, where 1 to 3 inches of snow and patchy blowing snow are expected through early Monday morning. Drifting snow may briefly reduce visibility, particularly in open or exposed areas.

In North Dakota, advisories continue until 9 p.m. CST Sunday for portions of northeast and southeast North Dakota, including Towner, Cavalier, Benson, Ramsey, Eddy, Nelson, Griggs, Barnes, Ransom, Sargent, and western Walsh counties. These areas may see 2 to 4 inches of snow with wind gusts up to 40 mph, producing widespread blowing snow and visibility frequently below one-half mile, especially in open country.

The National Weather Service warns that roads will be slippery, and blowing snow may make travel dangerous at times, particularly on rural highways.

Drivers are urged to slow down, allow extra travel time, and remain alert for sudden reductions in visibility. Road conditions can be checked by calling 511 in both Minnesota and North Dakota.
