Coudersport, PA – A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Cameron, Elk, and Potter Counties from 7 a.m. Thursday through 1 a.m. Saturday, with forecasters warning of lake effect snow and gusty winds that could make Thanksgiving travel difficult across northern Pennsylvania.

According to the National Weather Service in State College, total snow accumulations are expected to range from 3 to 5 inches, with locally higher amounts up to 6 or 7 inches possible in the more persistent snow bands. Winds may gust up to 40 mph, creating areas of blowing snow and sharply reduced visibility.

The advisory covers communities including Coudersport, Ridgway, St. Marys, and Emporium. Forecasters caution that conditions could vary widely over short distances as snow bands shift throughout the day. Slippery roads, particularly during the Thursday morning and evening commutes, may cause delays or hazardous travel for holiday drivers.

Motorists are urged to slow down, allow extra time, and stay alert for icy spots on bridges, sidewalks, and driveways. The National Weather Service recommends checking local forecasts and road conditions before traveling.

Snow showers are expected to taper off late Friday night, with improving conditions heading into the weekend.
