Bradford, Pa. – Northern Pennsylvania residents could wake up to frosty lawns and damaged plants Tuesday morning as temperatures dip close to freezing.
According to the National Weather Service in State College, a frost advisory is in effect from 2 a.m. until 8 a.m. Tuesday for Cameron, Elk, McKean and Potter counties, including communities such as Bradford, St. Marys, Emporium, Ridgway and Coudersport. Overnight lows are expected to fall to around 32 degrees, cold enough to form frost on exposed surfaces.
Gardeners and farmers across the region are urged to cover or bring in sensitive vegetation before midnight. Even a brief period of frost can damage crops, flowers and other tender plants. Residents who rely on late-season produce may want to take additional precautions, including watering soil before nightfall to hold ground warmth.
The advisory highlights one of the earliest hints of fall across northern Pennsylvania, though warmer conditions are expected to return later in the week. Additional frost advisories remain possible if clear skies and calm winds continue during the overnight hours.
