CLEVELAND, Ohio – A crisp and frosty fall night is ahead across northern Ohio and far northwest Pennsylvania, as temperatures dip into the upper 20s to lower 30s overnight tonight, from 1AM until 9AM Friday, bringing the region’s first widespread frost of the season.
According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, a Frost Advisory remains in effect for much of the region, including Toledo, Findlay, Mansfield, Akron, Canton, Lorain, Sandusky, and Medina, along with parts of northwest Pennsylvania. Temperatures could fall as low as 29 degrees in rural and inland valleys, where frost will be heavy on lawns, roofs, and vehicles.
Forecasters warn that frost could harm or kill sensitive outdoor vegetation, and residents are advised to cover plants, bring potted flowers inside, and disconnect hoses or irrigation systems before midnight. Farmers across northern Ohio should also prepare for the end of the growing season in exposed areas.
According to meteorologists, the clear skies and light winds driving tonight’s chill will also produce a bright, sunny Friday once the frost melts. Warmer conditions are expected over the weekend, though another round of patchy frost may return early next week as cool high pressure lingers over the Great Lakes.
