Cleveland, OH – Northern Ohio residents can expect a major weather shift this weekend, with above-normal warmth today giving way to showers, strong winds, and cooler air by Sunday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, temperatures will reach the mid- to upper-70s on Saturday across much of the region before a cold front moves in overnight. The front will bring widespread rain and blustery winds on Sunday, October 19, with gusts ranging between 35 and 45 mph, and isolated pockets of stronger winds possible during thunderstorms.
Communities from Toledo to Youngstown and Erie, Pennsylvania, are forecast to experience wind gusts peaking late Sunday morning through evening. The strongest gusts are likely along the Lake Erie shoreline and in open areas of northeast Ohio.
The NWS advises residents to secure outdoor items, prepare for potential power interruptions, and use caution when driving high-profile vehicles during windy conditions. Temperatures are expected to fall sharply Sunday afternoon behind the front, returning to more seasonal levels by Monday.
