Cleveland, OH – Lake-effect snow and wintry conditions will continue across northern Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania through Tuesday, as the National Weather Service in Cleveland maintains multiple winter weather alerts for the region. Snow showers are expected to taper off from west to east late tonight, but lingering lake-effect bands will continue to impact travel into Tuesday morning and early afternoon.

According to the Weather Service, a Lake Effect Snow Warning remains in effect for Erie and Crawford counties in Pennsylvania through 1 PM Tuesday, where heavier, more persistent snow bands may result in periods of low visibility and slick roads.

A Winter Weather Advisory is also in effect for numerous counties across northern Ohio, including Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, Ashtabula, Summit, Portage, Medina, Trumbull and Mahoning. For the northern tier, the advisory runs through 1 PM Tuesday. For counties farther south—generally from Akron to Youngstown—the advisory expires at 10 AM Tuesday.

Snow accumulations will vary widely based on where the strongest bands set up, but forecasters warn that travel could be difficult at times tonight and Tuesday morning, especially along I-90, Route 2, and higher elevations east of Cleveland. Brief bursts of heavier snow may reduce visibility to under a quarter mile.

The Weather Service also noted that a gusty thunderstorm may be possible from Millersburg to Youngstown to Meadville early this evening ahead of the cold front. Behind the front, gusty winds are expected to develop Sunday, adding additional hazards for drivers and those traveling in open areas.

Residents are encouraged to plan for extra travel time Tuesday morning and monitor any updates as snow bands shift overnight.
