Cleveland, OH – The National Weather Service in Cleveland warns that a blast of Arctic air will sweep across northern Ohio tonight, dropping temperatures into the single digits with wind chills near or below zero by early Friday morning.

According to the NWS, temperatures will fall sharply from the upper 20s Thursday morning into the teens by evening, then plummet overnight as a strong cold front moves through. Areas including Cleveland, Akron, Toledo, and Youngstown are forecast to reach lows between 8°F and 13°F, with wind chills as low as -3°F to 0°F by dawn.

While the cold will be brief, forecasters caution that early morning conditions could be dangerously cold for anyone outdoors, and frostbite risks increase with prolonged exposure. Residents are urged to bundle up, protect pets, and let faucets drip overnight to prevent frozen pipes.

The good news: temperatures are expected to rebound into the upper 20s to near 30°F by Friday afternoon before moderating over the weekend.
