Cleveland, OH – Damaging winds and heavy rain are forecasted to impact Northern Ohio this afternoon and evening, creating potential hazards for residents. The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a warning for showers and storms ahead of a cold front, with the most severe weather expected between 3 p.m. and midnight.

According to the National Weather Service, a few storms in the region may reach severe limits, primarily due to damaging winds. Brief, heavy rain could result in nuisance flooding in urban, low-lying, and poor drainage areas. Residents should prepare for strong winds and heavy rainfall, which may cause localized flooding and power outages.

The Slight Risk of Severe Thunderstorms (Level 2 of 5) applies to portions of Central Ohio, while other areas are in a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5). The greatest threat during these storms is damaging winds, though the heavy rain poses a significant risk as well.

As Independence Day celebrations approach on Thursday, residents are advised to stay informed about the weather and take necessary precautions. The storm system is expected to move out by Thursday, leading to improved weather conditions for the holiday. However, the forecast remains subject to change, and staying updated with the latest weather information is crucial.
