Cleveland, OH – Northern Ohio is preparing for a significant weather event as a complex of showers and thunderstorms moves in from Wisconsin and Michigan. The National Weather Service (NWS) warns that these storms will impact the area late this morning into early this afternoon.
According to the NWS, the primary concern with these storms is damaging wind gusts. Additional rounds of showers and thunderstorms could develop this evening and overnight, depending on how other storm complexes evolve across the Midwest and Great Lakes regions. Repeated rounds of rain could lead to isolated flooding, posing further challenges for residents.
The NWS has highlighted low confidence in the timing of storms after the first round, which is expected to occur between 10 AM and 3 PM. Storms continue to develop from other complexes of storms and outflow boundaries, making predictability extremely low at this time. Earlier today, this storm system dropped 12 inches of rain in parts of northern Wisconsin, exacerbating concerns about potential flooding.
